Guttation: A Drippy Phenomenon

Is it dew? Perhaps rain droplets?

Not exactly!

You’re seeing something pretty cool here. This is a phenomenon referred to as “guttation”. When a fungus has taken in too much moisture, it exudes the excess fluid in the form of droplets. This does not harm the fungus but simply allows it to regulate hydration. Plants exhibit this process as well. I love finding guttating mushrooms! I can't get enough of the glistening droplets...
